Sandra Jhung in ministry in Mexico, 2007. |
Sandra spent her childhood in Honolulu with her family, and it was very good. She attended private schools and was baptized when she was nine years old and in the 4th grade at St. Theresa’s. Attending this Catholic school changed her life.
She was a friend of Sister Maire Sulivan at St. Agnes Church in San Francisco where they first met. Sandra taught CCD to kids there at St. Agnes. Sister Maire invited her to several Presentation events where she met and liked so many Sisters and Associates. She joined the Presentation Associates in 2004.
Sandra’s favorite ministry has been on Cesar Chavez Street outside the church on Tuesday mornings serving the day laborers with the Sisters and Associates.
She always enjoys meeting the Sisters and Associates. She states. “I am looking forward to going to Ireland with some of them in 2023, visiting Nano Nagle’s home town."
She presently goes back and forth weekly to San Francisco and Santa Rosa to do volunteer work on Mondays at the food bank. She teaches religious education to children on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays in San Francisco and Santa Rosa.
The inspirational motto for her life is “Prayers with actions!”
