Pat Diaz, PBVM Associate, has been calling attention to the problem of environmental hazards and related health issues in her Los Angeles neighborhood for years. Now, according to a January 21 article from Associated Press, “After a decade of complaints from residents like Diaz, the Los Angeles City Council is expected to vote [soon] on a measure that would ban new oil and gas wells in the nation’s second most populous city and phase out existing wells over a five-year period.” Read the full AP article, which includes Pat’s story, here.

On January 26, KTLA in Los Angeles reported that the city council did vote in favor of that ban (article here). Pat’s natural inclination toward “Deeds and not Words” is very clear!
