Unstoppable Together: Sisters of the Presentation's Climate Crisis Gathering
In the spirit of shared commitment and unwavering hope, we are delighted to bring you the latest news from our recent Climate Crisis session held at the Motherhouse. The gathering, a testament to our collective determination to address environmental challenges, showcased the power of unity and collaboration.
Opening Reflection:
"God sleeps in the stones, dreams in the plants, stirs in the animals, sings in the birds, and awakens in the human."
This profound wisdom set the tone for a morning filled with purpose, as Sister Pat Davis and the Sisters of the Presentation welcomed individuals from various backgrounds, both physically and virtually, to engage in a conversation about the pressing issue of climate change.
A Symphony of Hope:
Father Cristobal, Shereen, teacher Grace, and students Nicolina, Kate, and Toni from Presentation High School in San Jose filled the room with energy, honesty, and enthusiasm. The theme of being "Unstoppable" resonated throughout the session, reflecting the inspiring song Djuna sang to conclude our time together.
Inspiring Initiatives:
Beyond the meeting room, Sister Pat Davis orchestrated multiple visits to the Motherhouse, including impactful events like Justice Day 2024 and the thought-provoking "Urban Plunge" in San Francisco. These experiences allowed Presentation High School students to actively participate in the Sisters' mission, adding depth and significance to their commitment.
We also had the privilege of hearing from Ying Liu, founder and CEO of Palo Alto's Blue Lake Packaging Company. Ying shared her company's goal of reducing ocean pollution with plastic-free products, including innovative recycled paper pencils. This real-world example showcased the active contribution of individuals and organizations to the solution, aligning with our mission to protect and care for the Earth.
A United Front Against the Climate Crisis:
Our collaboration with Presentation High School students and external partners, such as Blue Lake Packaging Company, exemplifies a united front against the Climate Crisis. The commitment, hope, and determination witnessed during the session underscore that, together, we are unstoppable in our mission to safeguard the environment for future generations.
