Epiphany…The Magi came seeking the child Jesus and brought gifts to lay before Him. The celebration of our Epiphany together brought gifts of blankets, given with love and care. I was deeply touched by your generosity in providing so many blankets!
In the weeks following our celebration, we made two trips to the Tenderloin. In our first outing we handed out 10 blankets. The men and women were so cold, some sleeping in door fronts and others in tents.
Our weather turned rainy and cold as we set out for our second outing. They came running down the street calling “I need a blanket,” “My wife needs a blanket” all with gratitude. We distributed 35 blankets that night.
We received two large boxes of blankets from Los Angeles with no return name or address. Thank you to our unknown gift givers and to everyone, for walking in the steps of the Magi and Nano. We are thankful to you for enabling us to share your gifts. May we pray for a better future for all unhoused men, women and children, and give thanks for all that God has blessed us with.
In the days ahead if there are friends, family, co-workers with extra blankets to spare, we will make every effort to pick them up from anywhere in the Bay Area. Please email us to make arrangements, [email protected]
